"Show Me Where," the debut album from Beauty Steps, out now!

Beauty Steps (D’Amato and Robert John Weiss) has released their debut LP, Show Me Where, which we mixed and co-produced at Silver City Studios.

The album spans multiple genres, but most of it operates in an R&B universe. D’Amato’s fortunate love of Prince shines through, as does the group’s interest in city pop. Select moments even sound like the best parts of an old Red Hot Chili Peppers song (no Kiedis detected, thankfully), probably produced by George Clinton.

The duo tapped some of Milwaukee’s finest musicians for studio sessions, including Nick Lang (drums), Anthony Deutsch (synth), Bryan Rogers (co-writing, backup vox, rhodes), Caley Conway (backup vox) and Treccy MT (backup vox). The talent overflows from each track.

The album is super unique lyrically, mostly consisting of ambiguously pretty lines which could be interpreted as either adoring or nihilistic (peaches in a palace, peaches in a casket/it’s all the same to move on). There’s even room for a tiny bit of humor (sippin’ Malort, oh my lord). But occasionally a sharp and devastating phrase will make you reconsider the whole project (I swore to you I’d follow through, I lied/I swore to you before you chose to die).
