Josh Evert
Josh Evert is an audio engineer, songwriter, composer, and audio producer from Milwaukee, WI. He’s been Artist-in-Residence at The Arctic Circle in 2022, 360 Xochi Quetzal in Mexico in 2018, Denali National Park in 2017, ACRE (Artists’ Cooperative Residency and Exhibitions) in 2016, and Homestead National Monument in 2015.
Day-to-day, he co-owns and operates Silver City Studios, an artist-run, affordable audio workspace. Since 2017, they have worked with dozens of musical artists, scored and done sound design for film, and produced radio pieces.
He’s the engineer and producer of Educators Amplified, a progressive education podcast hosted by two public school teachers in Milwaukee, Wisconsin.
Working both in music and film/TV, his soundtracking credits include Al Jazeera's "Faultlines" series; "The Laura Flanders Show”; Planned Parenthood of Wisconsin; The Makwa Initiative, Colectivo Coffee Roasters; Bader Rutter and various independent filmmakers.
He was one of two producers/audio mixers who worked on TankThink Media’s original series StoryRaps on KidoodleTV. This show was written by and stars the viral YouTube star Wes Tank.
His most recent solo work is called “7 Islands” (2022). It started by gathering sound samples in and around Great Smoky Mountains National Park, including Seven Islands State Park. The samples were put in arpeggiators and digital samplers and weaved into a long form song. Layers of instrumentation and vocals were added until the piece took on a life of its own as an experimental rock album.
